Prakash Raj’s Payanam scheduled to release on Friday may not take off! Leading film financier Mahendra Kumar Jain has approached the Madras High Court to restrain the release of the film.According to Jain, Prakash Raj has borrowed money from him and had subsequently executed an undertaking not to sell or part with the rights of his earlier film Abhiyum Naanum. However Prakash released the movie without settling his dues. Now Prakash is trying to do the same thing by evading payment of the loan on the eve of the release of his new film Payanam. Prakash had in fact sold the Tamilnadu theatrical distribution rights of the film to director Lingusamy’s Thirupathi Brothers.Hence Jain has issued a legal notice, calling upon Prakash Raj to pay Rs 79.99 lakhs that was due to him. The case will come up for hearing today (Feb 10). Prakash Raj could not be contacted for his comments as he is away in Andhra and Malaysia to promote Payanam’s Telugu version Gaganam!
